Discover Institut Pacifique on more than 3.5 million Québec milk cartons!

Montréal, July 3, 2014

This summer, over 3.5 million Québon milk cartons will bear a message from the Institut Pacifique (Pacific Path Institute), encouraging Quebecers to discover the organization, a genuine pioneer in the prevention of violence and bullying in Quebec.

Born of the recent collaboration between the institute and Agropur, the initiative is designed to promote the Institut Pacifique mission to a wide audience as well as to raise funds. Firmly established in schools and childhood education centres, the Institut Pacifique has trained over one million young people in mediation and peaceful conflict resolution in Quebec and elsewhere.

“The Institut Pacifique is doing extraordinary work and it deserves recognition. In just the past year, the organization has launched two projects that demonstrate its sensitivity to the concerns of young people nowadays,” said Yves Charbonneau, Vice President of Sales for Agropur’s Division Natrel. “One of the programs deals specifically with conflict resolution in a context of cultural diversity, while the other is a joint initiative with other organizations to fight cyber-bullying.”

The Institut Pacifique has worked in conjunction with schools for the past 37 years, providing Quebec youths with learning environments that are free of violence and bullying thanks to its numerous programs, such as Vers le pacifique (towards peacefulness) and Différents, mais pas indifférents (different, but not indifferent).”The children we have trained in the past are now adults who are helping change Quebec society through their knowledge of peaceful conflict resolution,” said Shirlane Day, Executive Director of the Institut Pacifique. “With this campaign, we hope to reach the largest number of people possible and share our approach.”

Fundraising campaign: goal exceeded!

The Institut Pacifique is proud to announce that it has exceeded its annual fundraising goal of $275,000. “This year, the organization collected $278,375 in donations, thanks to the generosity of many donors and the commitment and hard work of the members of the campaign committee and Honorary Chair Yves Charbonneau,” said François-Pierre Le Scouarnec, Ph.D., President of the Institut Pacifique. “Our heartfelt thanks go out to them.”

“These funds will help us give thousands of young people tools to manage their conflicts. In this way, we support their growth and prevent issues with violence in our society,” said Ms. Day.
