Milk Quality: Help Always at Hand

Milk Quality: Help Always at Hand

The team of Cooperative Advisors is trained and equipped to help you achieve your milk quality goals. Cooperative Advisors offer support regarding bacteria levels in milk by easuring washing system efficacy, notably using a luminometer. They can also measure somatic cell levels in the milk and establish an improvement strategy with you based on the farm’s situation.

Whether over the phone or during a farm visit, do not hesitate to ask them for advice to find solutions and avenues for improvement.

Accessible Troubleshooting Points

Numerous troubleshooting points for antibiotic detection are accessible to Agropur members in Quebec and the Atlantic provinces. The list of troubleshooting points is available on the home page of the Members' Extranet.

Contact the emergency line

  • Toll-free: 1 888 375-7275
  • Local : (438) 320-0431 (long-distance charges may apply)

Moreover, as a reminder, members in Quebec can reach a cooperative advisor with urgency from Friday at 4 p.m. to Monday at 8 a.m., including holidays, for troubleshooting regarding milk quality. They will make their resources available to you and can assist by answering your questions.

For producers in the Atlantic, two training sessions on milk quality were offered last March, one in New Brunswick and the other in Nova Scotia.

Fiaté Program

Finally, some members may benefit from the Fiaté program – “trustworthy” in Spanish – which allows training for their foreign workers on best practices at the farm. Developed in collaboration with Lactanet and only offered in Quebec, the worker training focuses on three important subjects in dairy production: milking methods, milk quality, and handling of dairy cattle. The training takes place directly at the farms of registered members.

Agropur offers financial participation to members who enroll in the Fiaté program. To encourage members to train their foreign workers on milk quality, Agropur conducts a draw for a reimbursement of $250 among registered members. This year, 14 Agropur members who had not benefited from the reimbursement in the past were able to take advantage.

For more information on the Fiaté program or how Agropur can help you improve the quality of your milk, contact your Cooperative Advisor.
