Kirkland cottage cheese and sour cream: successful products for Agropur

Kirkland_Wide

Cultured products are currently popular with consumers, especially cottage cheese, due to its high protein and low fat content. For more than three years, Agropur has been the proud manufacturer of the Kirkland Signature private label cultured products, cottage cheese and sour cream for our strategic customer, Costco.

In eastern Canada, the two products are sold in 500 g double packs, appealing to the notion of value that is so important to consumers who shop at Costco. In addition, Kirkland Signature sour cream was developed specifically for Costco and, at 18% fat, is very popular with consumers. Both products are produced at the Amqui plant in Quebec.

The products are also available on Costco warehouse shelves in western Canada. The cottage cheese is a different size, 3 x 750 g, and is produced at our Victoria, BC, plant. The larger format is justified by the fact that cottage cheese consumption is very high in western Canada, accounting for 44% of total Canadian consumption. Sour cream is sold in the same format as the rest of the country and is also produced in Amqui.

Since their launches, the products have performed very well. By the end of 2023, both sour cream and cottage cheese will post above-market growth.

If you would like to try baking with sour cream or cottage cheese, you can find Kirkland Signature products at a Costco store near you. Look for the code 1604, which indicates that your container was made at our Amqui plant.
