Flooding in British Columbia threatens our supply chains

The current weather situation in British Columbia has severely impacted the road and rail services in multiples areas in the province.  This is affecting our supply chain; from raw milk delivery to process in our facilities, to the delivery of finish goods to stores.

So, in the impacted areas, our customer could be facing a lack of service to their stores or by experiencing shortage on certain products.

We are following the situation very closely and have mobilized a team working around a mitigation plan and to restore full service as soon as the transportation situation resume.

For now, the only highway connecting Victoria with the rest of Vancouver Island has been damaged by flooding and will be closed overnight for the next six nights.

As for our Burnaby plant, all highways are closed at the moment due to flooding, mudslides, etc. We are experiencing limited supply of raw milk to lower mainland due to this situation.

BCMMB (British Columbia Milk Marketing Board) has advised the producers of their inability to pick up milk and asking producers to dispose of their milk for the time being.

The Mayor of Abbotsford, one of the city most impacted, has just provided an update and said producers have been taking cattle out by motorboat. The water was close to 2 meters deep and farmhands were in the water for hours getting the cattle out. The Mayor doesn’t have numbers for the loss of cattle.
