The inspiring journey of Félix Couture, the new Next-Generation Director of Agropur

Elected by universal suffrage to the position of Next-Generation Director at the Annual and Special General Meeting on February 12, 2025, Félix is a passionate and dedicated dairy farmer. Since 2014, he has successfully managed Ferme Filcout, growing the farm located in St-Éphrem-de-Beauce (Chaudière-Appalaches region) from 49 to 150 kilos of quota. In collaboration with family members and partners, certain resources and assets have been reorganized to optimize operations, such as field management and replacement stock breeding.
Félix has also been an Agropur delegate for 10 years. This experience has allowed him to actively participate in numerous meetings and activities of the Cooperative, thereby enhancing his understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the dairy sector.
Félix has a solid academic background, having graduated in agronomy from Université Laval and holding a diploma in management and operation of agricultural enterprises from ITAQ in Saint-Hyacinthe. This has notably enabled him to acquire the in-depth skills in finance, agri-food policy, and marketing needed to navigate the agricultural business environment.
His vision for Agropur is clear: to help the Cooperative navigate the current economic uncertainty and adapt to changes in the dairy industry, while respecting the organization's core values. Félix is determined to leverage his expertise and experience to contribute to Agropur’s success and sustainability.
The role of Next-Generation Director This role allows young dairy producers to integrate into Agropur's highest governance body. It enables future leaders to become familiar with the challenges of the dairy industry and bring their perspectives to the board's deliberations. It offers a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth, while contributing to the sustainability of the industry for future generations.

The integration program for new directors
At Agropur, the integration of new directors is a rigorous and well-structured process designed to ensure a smooth transition and effective contribution from the start of their mandates.
New directors start by meeting with strategic individuals in the organization, including the president and the CEO, to better understand the workings of the Cooperative and milk processing. A mentorship program is also in place, where an experienced director guides the new director in their new role.
Additionally, the President of the Board of Directors and the President of the Governance Committee meet annually with each board member to evaluate their performance and the functioning of the board to identify areas for improvement. The overall results of these evaluations, presented to the board in October, also provide a precise assessment of the directors' skills, establish areas where they can benefit from additional training, and position them in appropriate committees based on their qualifications and the organization's priorities.
