Agropur Gives Back: Walk to End Alzheimers

What’s the cause:

Agropur Ingredients recently reached out to the local Alzheimer’s Association La Crosse Chapter in order to financially support their current campaign: Walk to End Alzheimer’s.  The walk is held annually and includes more than 600 communities nationwide!  In these communities, teams and participants register walkers and raise funds in order to bring awareness to the disease and raise money for those it affects.  There is no registration fee but every walker is encouraged to make a personal donation as well as commit to raising funds to fight against Alzheimer’s.  The Alzheimer’s Association’s mission is: “a global organization, working to advance care, support and research across the world. From face-to-face support to online education programs and promising worldwide research initiatives, the money you raise makes a difference in the lives of those facing Alzheimer’s.”

How does it help:

This nationwide initiative benefits three divisions of this cause: Care and support for those affected by the disease; Research for treatment, prevention, and a cure; Awareness, education, and advocacy related to Alzheimer’s disease.  This is the associations largest fundraiser and funds many of their ongoing programs that are offered free, to community members, throughout the year.  The local campaign’s goal is $67,000 dollars, which would support programs like the AlzConnected online message boards, group support meetings and helps fund over 2,300 research proposals nation wide.
