On May 30, Agropur held its annual Summer Facilitators’ Meeting in seven meeting spots in Québec and the Atlantic provinces. The Cooperative presented the financial results for the first six months of the fiscal year and discussed many subjects of interest for its members.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the presentation delivered by the meeting’s guest speaker, Christophe Lafougère, the Managing Director of Gira Food.  Gira Food is a company specializing in business analysis and strategic research for the food-sector industry, with whom Agropur has collaborated with for 20 years.

Mr. Lafougère presented the major global trends in the dairy industry and shared his vision of our business environment. Some of the highlights of his analysis included:

• Dairy production is changing and there are challenges ahead;
• The consumption of dairy products will continue to grow globally, but there will be less growth in certain parts of the world;
• The Canadian dairy industry is well-positioned to meet consumers’ needs;
• It is imperative that the farm sustainability levels continue to increase.

Following his presentation, our guest speaker also responded to questions from Maxime Devourdy, Vice-President Corporate Development and Sustainable Growth Strategies at Agropur.
