Sales of Kirkland Sliced Cheese up Significantly in Canadian Costco Stores

It’s no secret that Canadians love to shop at Costco. While inflation is affecting the prices of a wide variety of products, many consumers are turning to retailers who offer volume savings on their purchases.

Nearly one in three Canadians is a Costco member and that number could grow in the next few years. This would be good news for Agropur, which processes a range of dairy products for Kirkland Signature, Costco’s private label.

 

The products include the 1-kilogram size of sliced marble and medium cheddar, which Agropur has been making for the entire Canadian Costco market since 2018. Sales of this product grew by 18% in the past year. The Cooperative will exceed 3.2 million packages produced in 2023, the equivalent of more than 28.8 million litres of milk processed for this product alone. It’s a great example of successful collaboration for the Cooperative, which produces the cheese at its Notre-Dame-du-Bon-Conseil plant in Quebec and slices it at its plant in Woodstock, Ontario.

Sliced marble cheddar has been featured in Costco’s flyers a few times this year and is often stocked in the front refrigerators for high sales throughput. It’s available all over Canada, so look out for the plant code 1555 and be sure to pick up a package on your next visit!
