Your Cooperative Advisor: An ally in achieving your goals
We all know that running a dairy farm is a 365-day-per-year commitment. With this challenge, it is great to have support. That’s where Agropur’s Cooperative Advisors come in.
Cooperative Advisors are Agropur’s agricultural team, the first direct contact members have with their cooperative. “If they have never worked with us before, members may not realize that we go out to farms to meet with them,” says Myriam Poulin, Agropur’s Cooperation Manager. “They may think we just sit in our offices, but our team members all travel out to farms to build relationships with members.”
There are many different reasons why members might contact their Cooperative Advisor, ranging from membership and business matters, such as milk pay, patronage or use of capital, to practical and technical issues, such as milk quality testing or milking and milk cooling system inspections. And best of all, these services are free of charge for members. “Members should understand that when we solve a milk quality problem or help them improve their herd’s welfare, they aren’t the only ones who benefit. The Cooperative and all members benefit,” says Myriam Poulin.
The Cooperation team is multifunctional and is made up of trained agricultural specialists. It is responsible for developing and maintaining a relationship of trust between Agropur and its members. And it goes much deeper than that: Facilitation of Cooperative Life, improvement of milk quality on the farm, and assistance with integrating sustainable agriculture practices regarding animal welfare and the environment, are also tasks that the Advisors perform for members. Advisors also answer questions about regulations and the Cooperative’s business environment, the Policy of Share Transfers, and local donations and sponsorships.
There are many topics on which you may need the support of your Cooperative Advisor and many good reasons to reach out. You will find their contact information on your Agropur Milk Pay, your Capital Statement and the Members’ Extranet.
